[1.19] second character window

after reading the thread on mutliplaying and realising that the best way to do it would be to create another window in the same session with its own network settings I think ive encountered a possible bug.

- create package.
- convert to window.
- tick status bar/command line/visible options.
- select override network connection and enter new details.

window doesnt connect. now, if you select another package in the editor, and then return to the new window youve just created, the network connection has defaulted back to- use main session network connection.

is this correct? and is this why the new window isnt connecting?

edit: ive just noticed that it will only default back to 'use main session network connection' if you dont have all the other packages enabled for that window. very very odd.

Be careful how you use the words "package" and "module" - you seem to be confusing them at least once in that post. You also don't need to create a module and convert it to get a new window - there's a new window option on there too.

Yep, it's on the "New" menu on the Main toolbar of the settings editor, just above new module. Here's a screenshot. Here's one I made earlier showing what the end product looks like.

On the topic of your bug, it's confirmed - if you type in the override address and then click somewhere else before saving, the setting will be reverted. To get it to work, you have to click "Save Settings" before clicking anything else or closing the Package Editor.

I tested this connecting to two muds simultaneously and CMUD didn't mind me disconnecting from one or the other independently. Can you reproduce the crash?

im connecting to the same mud twice, with 2 seperate chars, when i type quit on one, it brings up the disconnect dialogue box, if i click close, it then closes the 2nd char window, together with my capture window and tries to disconnect the other charactor as well.

this might be a hard one for you to test unless you have a multiplay friendly mud.

ill try to iron it out a bit more so it can remort it a little more simply.

Yeah, that's because the "Close" button is "Close session" - clicking it will close the session. You need to click the "Work Offline" button, which will leave that window offline and the other connected.
