Char dataset error

I just downloaded the latest version of ZMud, and when I go to open it, I get an error message about a char dataset. I don't know what to do. Could anyone please lend me a helpful hand?

At what point does this error appear? Did the splash screen display?

Have you checked your MDAC installation? http://forums.zuggsoft.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=21973

It might be having a problem converting your old character database to the new format. In the new format, zMUD doesn't use MDAC anymore, so it shouldn't be an MDAC issue. Try renaming the CHARDB.MDB file to something else and delete any CHARDB.DB file and then run zMUD again and see if it will just create a new fresh character database for you.

It still says "Char Cannot perform this operation on a closed dataset."

OK, try downloading a fresh copy of 7.13b and then install it into a completely new directory on your computer. If you still get the error then you'll need to post more details about your system (Windows version, etc). It should be impossible to get this error on a new installation, and I've actually never seen it before after removing both CHARDB files, but a fresh install in a completely new directory should do it unless there is something really wierd on your system.
