I've never seen that happen on a fresh install. That error is due to a problem converting an older character database. Are you *sure* this is a fresh install into a directory that never had zMUD in it before? Remember that Uninstalling does *not* delete all of the files, so be sure you are installing into a completely new directory.
The only other time I have seen this is with a corrupted SQLITE.DLL file somewhere else on your system that Windows uses instead of the one installed into the zMUD directory.
My only other suggestions is to run Windows Update and make sure you have all of the patches installed. Works just fine on all of my WinXP systems here and I'm not getting any email with this problem, so the only other possibility is something corrupted on your Windows system. |

In case someone else has this same problem, I think I tracked down the cause:
When zMUD starts, it needs to find the SQLITE.DLL file in the *Current Working Directory*! Apparently it doesn't look in the directory that the ZMUD.EXE is stored in, but looks in whatever the current directory is.
When you create a desktop icon for a program, it stores the path for the current working directory. So right-click on your zMUD icon and select Properties and make sure the "Start In:" directory is the same directory path that is set in the "Target:" field.
For example, if the Target field is "C:\ZMUD\ZMUD.EXE" then make sure the "Start In:" field is set to "C:\ZMUD". |
