Inherited Settings

Is there any way to get rid of the Inherited Settings flag on something? It's really bothering me that I can't edit it and stuff...
Also, is there a way to permanently delete them? I'd rather just do that...

When you attempt to edit it, it will ask you to create a duplicate. Create the duplicate and edit that one. Your setting will be used instead of the inherited one.
If you don't want to look at inherited settings, disable View|Show Inherited.

The only problem with that is that when I attempt to use those, it invariably ends up trying to edit variables from the Inherited settings as opposed to the duplicate ones. It's fine though, I duplicated them, copied them to a txt file, then wiped my settings.
