Linkdead without knowing |
Hello.
I have, for a few weeks now, tried to figure out what's wrong with my zMUD. But without success.
My problem is that if I stay connected to the mud I'm on, idleing, I will, when I get back, find myself still connected, but if I try to type anything to the mud, I will discover that I'm really not connected.
In some way, I lose my connection, without zMUD knowing. It is rather annoying, that I can't figure out what wrong. I'm pretty sure it's not the mud that I'm on anyway.
It'd be really nice if someone could help me.
Thx in advance.

I've seen this reported in the past, and if I remember correctly this was not a problem with zMUD. zMUD only disconnects when it receives the message from Windows that the connection has been disconnected. I believe the problem was with the drivers for the network card which for some reason require output to be sent before the state of the connection is updated. Try upgrading your drivers to the latest version available.

I find this happens all the time when you're behind a NAT router ... like windows internet sharing, or some of those new DSL/Cable routers (like netgear rt311, and 4 port adsl modems).
Find the best solution is to not go idle ;)
Install a tick timer to send #CR (enter) to the mud every 200 seconds or so. Of course, make sure your mud doesn't ban people for tick timers first :)
