map conversion

i just converted from version 3.16 to version 3.40 but half of my maps didn't convert at all. The names were listed but no rooms displayed. The displayed map lvls of these empty maps were set at the max (2147483647) for integer value, and levels between 2147483647 and -2147483647 maybe that can point you in the direction.
If there is a way to convert these maps i'll be happy to hear it because i won't be upgrading if there isn't.

Try one more time, but this time using the zsConvert program that came with zMUD. If it still doesn't convert right, then you should contact Zugg since he may want to look at your maps.

i finally got the maps converted but after playing a few minutes with it i already found several issues that cause data loss so im gonna stick to the 3.26 version untill a new upgrade version available.

Which data did you loose? If no one knows there is a problem, it won't get fixed.

i have an item database with a zone field. Whenever i have the map opened so that the zone names are visible and walk through the list with the curser on the zone field every name gets deleted and reset to -1. Entering the zonename again doesn't work since it is reset to -1 the moment the field looses focus. If i enter the identification # of the zone it does get replace by the name of the zone upon loosing focus but immidiately after it get reset to -1.

You aren't allowed to use the Room or Zone fields in databases anymore because of the new mapper.

if that's true this new version is now totally useless to me. I haven't seen anything that has improved on a user level, only things that have gotten worse.

Yes, that's entirely possible. The funny thing about people is that two persons can look at the same thing and see something entirely different than the other did. It all just depends on what you choose to see and how.

Now, tell us, what was it that you had that was dependant on the contents of the Zone field. We may be able to help you to do what you need. For example, you can store the zone name in a text field and use its contents to perform scripting with the mapper and accomplish what you need. Remember, there is usually more than one way to do something.

thanks for the offer but i don't want the hassle of fixed it. I'm going to follow the policy 'don't fix it if it aint broke'.
I'll check back on a new future version.
