Hi Everyone,

A long time ago I did crack zmud, as many of you did, and after so much time regret it.
I saved my allowances up and am going to buy a license set.

The problem is my big brother read me the help file.

If you don't unlicense zmud, re-installing it will go on same license. But since mine is cracked and faked, the unlicense feature doesn't work. I want to unlicense my cracked version, and ask my mom to write a check for a license.

Wanted to say sorry Zugg, it was too easy at the time to do it, and sorry to everyone else too.

On the bright side, you can just obliterate the illegal copy before downloading the 30-day trial feature and registering that one.

If you cracked it with the Damn elicence Proxy, reload the proxy and unlicense zmud via that, then you can uninstall the cracked copy. Download and install the nice clean shiny version, and there you is.

I tried that, but the proxy claims the port is being used and refuses to load.

I don't know exactly how to do it, only Matt, that when i did delete and try to reinstall, it automatically thought I had the license.

I feel bad after so long, sorry to wait so long to do the honest thing and pay for it Zugg!!

Reconfigure the proxy to a different port to 80, my guess is you have a webserver on that pc too? Change to port 81 and restart the program, it should load

In this case, you need to start rooting around in the Windows Registry. As a general rule, this would be a bad thing to do because you could sneeze and end up killing your computer. But since neither ZMud nor eLicense appear to mess with any important registry keys you should be safe in nuking all key references to ZMud, eLicense, or your eLicense code.

Restart your computer, and install the free trial version. Restart your computer at least once more before launching ZMud, and if the license popup appears you successfully purged the old, cracked version from your Registry. If not, you probably need to start all over and search the registry more carefully.

EDIT: forgot to add the rest of the post.

If, for whatever reason you just aren't comfortable with hacking up the Registry, you could perhaps write Zugg or eLicense support and see if you can get your illegit license deleted and reissued or legalized. This will likely require sending in a donation alongside your email efforts.

By donation do you mean the check?
i still need a little more time to get all the money then to make my mom write the check.

If you actually have a real registration code, you can click the License button on the Trial screen, and then click the Get Offline License button to get around any proxy server that you might have. The Get Offline method will use your web browser to interact with the remote eLicense server in a secure way. This feature allows people using zMUD 6.40 to install a license no matter what wierd proxy server or firewall they might have.

Also, the new 6.40 version does not use the licenses from past versions of zMUD. So, no matter what version you had in the past, when you run 6.40 for the first time you will get the Trial screen. If you don't get the trial screen for v6.40, then you are doing something else wrong that you aren't telling us.
