MSP Sound Triggers |
I've got sound enabled, MSP checked, etc. Sound files are in the proper subdirectory. The MSP trigger list stays empty and no sounds occur. The muds soundsFX person even executed an in-game sound and the client didn't play it. All other sounds work properly.
What am I missing? |

What's the address of the MUD? I'll check it out.

I can't get the MUD to send me a sound. I try this:
sound play cricket 100
but it just sends a line saying that it is playing it and does not send the actual MSP sound. If I do this in zMUD:
#SH !!SOUND(cricket.wav V=100)
it does play.

I can't do anything about it right now (@work), but I will be messing with it later tonight.
Since the mud has a sound option (verified sound on, vol 100, MSP on), is there something I need to configure in zMud to set/register the sound triggers?
Here's the latest incident. I goto Preferences>Sound>MSP (again, @ work, so this may not be 100% accurate) and look at the list of triggered sounds that zMud has stored. This list is empty. I can search for one of the mud's downloaded sounds and activate it; but as soon as the next message is received from the mud, the sound file dissapears and is no longer available.
I was able to check 'Enable' on an opened sound file before it 'dissapeared', but that didn't work either.
Then again, I am using the Free Trial version. Does that make a difference?
[zMud will most likely be a Xmas present...from myself :)]
Thanks for your help! It is greatly appreciated. |

MSP should be on by default. Also, using the Free Trial should not affect this in any way. Anyway, if you could tell me of a command or some action that makes the MUD send a sound trigger that would be great.

I know the 'sleep' command should trigger a sound.

Thanks, again, for the assitance, Kjata. I reported a bug to the mud's world manager. If I want the sounds, then I'll use the power of the zMUD!

OK. I was working with the #PLAY command, and now NO sounds play at all in this mud. I even found an object in a room that triggered a sound and nothing happened (i.e. no sound). Opening the object triggered a 'play creak.wav' mud-command, but no sound.
I double checked the Sound Preferences and everything looked the same. I have 2 triggered sounds in the MSP sounds list (both were detected from me prompting them, and were not detected via a mud-command). Well, I click on both of these .wav files and could not hear either one.
I used to be able to here those files via the Play button in Sound Preferences. I also used to be able to here sound via #SH !!SOUND(cricket.wav V=100) per Kjata's suggestion. Now that doesn't work either. This mud is still in beta testing and none of the 'official' beta-testers have downloaded the mud's sound files (kinda leaved me on my own). The mud's SFX guru stated I should here sounds, and it must be a client problem/conflict.
All sounds work on my computer elsewhere. Any suggestions as to whether this is a zMUD conflict or just an internal mud bug would be great. Thanks. |

Try moving some small WAV file to the zMUD directory and using #PLAY to see if you hear it. Example:
#PLAY test.wav

I already tried that one. I download the sound files a second time and saved them to C:zmud. Hmmm...it was after that when all sound stopped in zmud. Could there be a conflict since I still have those same sounds files in C:zmudLOKsound?

Strange. Not even #BEEP works?

#play worked. Now how do I get the sounds to work on their own? Others in this mud with zMud v6.20 and higher can't get sounds. But people with older zMud hear sounds just fine!

I tried to see what the MUD sends to make zMUD play a sound, but I couldn't. Disable MSP parsing and make the MUD send an MSP command. Post here the MUD output containing the MSP command.
