Using a proxy to connect to a MUD

Recently Ive been having major lag problems on a MUD that I play, while the majority of players have zero. I dont get any lag on other muds, so can only think its because of the route my ISP is taking to it. So, my plan was to use a proxy to go to the MUD, with the thought that Id get a different route and maybe no lag, but havent been able to get it working at all. Ive looked for servers with google, but everything I try says the MUD is unreachable when I try to connect.

Anyone have a proxy I could try and connect through, and any help with how to set it up would be appreciated, since I must be doing something wrong(unless the 15 servers Ive tried dont work).
