chess game

i was thinking it is possible to move a chess script with zmud and zmapper using the new map commands the ones that can so a bitmap on the map but it is not save or something like that?

the more commands should be something like this:
You move your pawn from e2 to e4.
blub moves her pawn from d7 to d5.

think this can be done?

Yes, this is definately possible. You need to create the display of the chessboard (a background bitmap is possible for this) and then create various room kinds (one for each type of piece: pawn, kind, queen, rook, etc.) You then create the necessary rooms (32 rooms), one for each piece, and assign the correct room kind to each piece. Afterwards, using the new mapper functions, you should be able to move these rooms around easily.

bmp picture of chessboard
bmp picture of every piece with both white and black background. (could i make transparent chess pieces so i only need 2 copies copy of every piece one of each color?)

The only bmp would be that of the chessboard. this bmp would be placed as the background image of the whole map.

For the pieces, you would use rooms. Each room would actually be a game piece. Since you can assign different shapes (a scalable drawing, not a bmp) to different rooms, you could create all the necessary shapes and assign them to the rooms. So, for example, you create 32 rooms (each one is a piece in the game) and then create a white pawn room shape. You then assign this room shape to 8 of the rooms (since there are only 8 white pawns.)

Now that that is all set up, you can use the new mapper scripting to move each individual room (game piece) around the map to pre-defined positions which would correspond to each square in the chessboard.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. This post should really be in the Beta Forum since the version that includes functions for moving rooms around is the latest beta version along with the latest zMapper version (you must have both for it to work). I should have indicated that this post needed to go in the Beta Forum in the beginning.

Anyway, to answer your question, yes, there are new functions to perform all sorts of changes on your map directly from zMUD. Like I said above, this requires the latest beta version and the latest zMapper version. For more info, go to the Beta Forum and look at the recent posts there. You might also want to download zMapper and read the help file if you don't have it already.
