Time Stamps

Ok, I was wondering why when I do a %eval(%time(ss)+%time(nn)*60+%time(hh)*3600-500) I get the time in seconds minus 500, but when I exchange 500 for say.... (@%concat(TIME,%i)) I get a blank. Theoretically if there was no TIME%i whatever %i is in a #FORALL statement, it would subract 0. So um, why doesnt it?
