Floating help?

I'm trying to make a db that calcs various stuff, one of my problems is that i use floats... But whenever I try to make a number it just pops up and says: '5.5' is not a valid floating point value, I can't even use the %float() function or anything - what do I do?

zMUD doesn't use floating point numbers. Use integers.

However, I believe the beta version does allow floating point numbers. But if this is a question about the beta version it belongs on the beta forum.
