What exactly are you doing to load the plugins? What plugins are you trying? What do you expect to happen that isn't happening?
If you uninstall zMUD and then reinstall it, you won't loose your registration. This is stored elsewhere.

Ok, so did you click on Plugins|Install Plugins... then on the Install button, looked for the zChat plugin file, and then clicked on Open?

Actually, I found I had a problem with getting zChat to load as well, solved it by downloading a fresh copy and loading it the initial time manually through the plug-in menu. Wouldn't accept the exe, but grabbed the dll fine, since then it's been working as well as it ever did.

zChat needs the zchatapi.dll to be installed
not the zchat.exe.
