Multiplay settings for individual characters

I multiplay with up to 8 characters at a time. When I try to set triggers for only one character, it works for that session, then when I log off (or any time zmud is closed) the next time I log back in, the triggers for all my other characters have been overwritten and are the same settings that I wrote for the single character. ie I set a trigger for my healer to read his mana level off the prompt and tell the group when hes getting low so I set the var etc etc, making sure to save my work. Next session I will log in and all characters will be yelling at me that their mana is low. It becomes a major pain to have to rewrite the scripts for each character every time I log into the game. I had the same problem on an older version of zmud (diff computer so it's not an old corruption) also have the same problem on other muds, so it is not the mud itself. I guess my question is 'can I change scripting for one character while multiplaying and not have it effect the other characters settings'?
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

What I have resorted to (not because of multi-ing) using is when I play one specific mud I have all shared aliases/paths go into one .mud settings file. Additionally, each character inherits settings from a "class".mud file.

So my mage inherits from mage.mud, cleric from cleric.mud, etc. This way I keep spell aliases, and triggers separate.

Make sense?
