scripting a map |
I'm the admin of a large, established mud, and because it's been a few years since I've played mortals I've lost track of how all the zones fit together.
Is it actually possible, in zmud, to write a script that loops through rooms 1-30000, :go (to that room), :stat (that room), enter it all into a database, and come out with, at the end of the day, a map view of the entire world where exits and entries would all be matched, deathtraps would be in red, that you could point and click on and walk around the world with?
Thanks |

Yes you can script it.
Best way I have done that in the past is
to track which room vnums I've been to and
then goto the exits vnum mapping it that way
and forcing the mapper to map as you go.
Using #TAG to add the room vnums to the
short room name works well as well. Helps
keep zones and your location easier in your
head when you are goto'ing everywhere.
If you have olc, you can even suck out all the
room specifics if you travel about in the olc
editor.
If you want an example of the triggers for
that, you'll have to post 2-3 rooms and
you goto'ing them. Choose your newbie zone
or your workroom maybe so to protect the
explorers :P
