Inheritence (global triggers?) |
I have two chars on the same mud. I want both to share every setting (EXCEPT variables, which will be unique). I want both to be connected at the same time from the same instance of zMud. I want to be able to edit the settings for both of these characters without having to reconnect for each change.
Right now I have global aliases. These are nice, I can edit them easily. I don't have a need for global variables. But I can't seem to get global triggers to fire. Since my two characters share the same mud they can share the same triggers. It is too much hassle for me to have to make two edits with every change to my triggers. So I want to globalize my triggers, or have my characters inherit the settings from each other.
The problems I have encountered are: Triggers that are created in the global settings editor don't seem to fire in my character's session windows. Aliases work just fine, and will output their text as though they were local. Global triggers don't work.
Inheritence doesn't seem easy to edit on the fly. Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to edit parent settings and have the changes propogate to the child sessions without having to close & re-open zmud?

Unlike the Primary settings file, you need to reload the primary settings file in order to update the inherited file.
Would be nice if the inherited settings were refreshable like the primary settings, but I assume making them like that would cause interference with the inherited status.
