ZMUD Problem

I am completely new to zmud so bare with me.. Now I am trying to start it up..when I get the error..'Invalid data' then it just closes itself out..It used to be working somewhat before but would just simply not let me do anything else with my computer if I tried to quit it...I would really aprecate help ..preferably without having to reinstall..as I am on a slow connection..and I seem to have deleted my original download.. Thanks In Advance

Unfortunately, "Invalid Data" means that the zMUD executable is corrupted. This mostly happens because of a virus. Try updating your antivirus definition files and scanning your computer. You will also need to reinstall zMUD.

I was afraid youd say that..I seem to have this virus that i 'thought' i cleaned..links into the vxd layer so if i install anything..it infects as i install..so i somehow have to disinfect from DOS...and i have no virus scanner for dos. .I know this isnt the place..but does a reformat sound in order??? Thanks again for all the quick help..

Try first looking into the documentation of your antivirus for this. I know of some that let you create boot disks with the program and virus definitions so that you can boot into DOS and clean the virus from there.

You can find what version of zMUD (and most any program) you are using by right-clicking on the exe file of the program and going into the Version tab. Also, I believe that version number you found in zmud.ini is the number of the latest version (beta or not) available so zMUD knows if you have the latest version of not.

Seems, now, that your setting file is corrupted. Try followin the steps mentioned in the Migration Guide.
