I bought beta Zmud 6.25A for 25 dollars and didn't have the 6.16 version which is suppose to be more stable. I downloaded 6.16, but when I try to start it, it says something about "not being able to get a license at this time." I don't feel I should have to pay another 25 bucks if that's the problem here. Why does 6.16 need to get a license for anyway? I purchased 6.25, after all.

It's not after another $25, so you can relax about that.

The way zMUD's licensing works (you should be familiar with this if you read the agreement when you purchased your license) is that you're granted license to have 3 instances of zMUD installed. They can be on 3 different computers, 3 different versions, 2 of the same version on a dual-boot system and 1 at work, etc. A total of 3.

90 days after you install one of your licenses, it "expires", and you'll have to go through the eLicense window again to "re-license" it. This is at no cost to you. This is a convenient way of recovering any of your 3 licenses if for some reason they get lost (bad hard drive, you reformat your computer without un-licensing first, etc).

SO, zMUD 6.26a is using *one* of your 3 licenses. To install and run zMUD 6.16, you'll use another. That leaves you 1 more for whatever.

I'm sorry, but maybe I'm too dumb, but you didn't answer my question about how do I get the license for 6.16.. I try to start it up and it ALWAYS says, Sorry could not get a license at this time. Try again later. 23

I'm not wanting another license, I just want 6.16 to start up while 6.26a beta is on the fritz. What do I do about that message? Why am I getting it? Why should it try to get me another license. I bought one for 6.26a beta.

I explained the answer to your question about "another license".

As far as the "not able to get a license at this time" error, that implies you've got proxy or firewall issues, either you're behind one and need to get out, or you're not and eLicense thinks you are. Check the proxy settings in 6.16's eLicense window when it opens.

If there's no proxy option (newer versions don't have one, but I thought 6.16 did), check your connection to the internet. If you're connected and still can't get a license, report the full error code you're getting (it'll include a number) and that'll help people here diagnose what's wrong.

Finally, if you're still having problems, you can email support@elicense.com and they can help with the connectivity issues/questions regarding eLicense.
