Question on directions and boxes in automapper |
I am currently playing in a mud that have some directions rather uncommon.
Apart from n, e, s, w, u, d, ne, se, sw, nw.
There are some more directions, northup, northdown, southup, southdown.....
and also, enter, out.
Geometrically, northup means, shift one space towards north and then go up a level.
northdown, means shift one space towards south and then go down a level.
Problem arises when I use the automapper. If I choose none, in the map direction field, mapper will not create a new room for me when I explore northup. If I choose down, or up, after the map is created, the mapper will reconize northup as up, and then when I walk, it enters up, instead of northup.
I have configured nu, eu, su, wu as x, c, v ,b
and nd, ed, sd, wd as q, a, z, r
Would any kind body help me ? |

My gut feeling is that you are constrained
by the cardinal directions plus up/down for
the automapper.
The only suggestion I can think of is using
manually the non-standard exits to link
weird directions.
Not a friendly way to do it..
When the mapper is one day released
in a .mdb file maybe you
will be able to construct something that
will let you link different.y

Those directions - northup, northdown, etc. - are already planned fro the mapper and will make their way soon into it.
For now, like Ton said, you can use the "other" exit direction to put these rooms. You have two ways of doing it:
- When you enter the northup command in the command-line, put a > right before it. Example: >northup
You can also force the mapper to create the non-standard exit in a particular direction, although it will still be linked by "other". The way to do this is to put a > and the direction right after the previous syntax. Example: >northup>u
- Create these directions using the #DIR command and assign them an exit of "other"
