Zmud for unix |
The zmud FAQ states that if ever delphi was ported to unix then there might be a unix port of zmud, well borland have had delphi for linux out for a while now, is porting to unix still a possibility?

In the forums it was mentionned that
some of Delphi had been ported but not
the more graphical items that is used for
scrolling etc. I believe the last post
on unix and not likely was posted by
Kjata maybe Oct-Dec'ish.
As an alternative check out Castaway looking at using Wine.

Yup, the major problems are:
- The syntax and functions are different enough in Kylix (Delphi for Linux) that a direct port is not possible.
- Some third-party components zMUD uses need to be ported to Kylix by the authors.
- zMUD has many speed optimization tricks that are for Windows.
- A complete rewrite of zMUD in Kylix would require lots of Zugg's time. To make this time spent coding viable, zMUD for Linux would have to be bought by a lot of people. From the surveys done various times in the past and the fact that the linux community is very much free-open-source minded, this does not seem likely.
- There is no e-License for Linux or some other similar product that offers the same capabilities.
