zMud lite |
Are there any plans in the works for a 'light' version of
zMud? One without the automapper, database, etc?
Would make for less memory and cpu usage..always a bonus ;) |

zMUD only loads in memory what you are using. If the automapper is not open, it does not occupy any space in memory. Same goes for the database. That is the reason why you can script the database or mapper if you do not have their window open.

The last time I saw a (I'll use the term loosely ) "plan", I don't remember seeing "zTelnet". However, I was pre-occupied with the #1 and #2 items, so it could've been below those. That would mean it's not going to be on the operating table until at least autumn of 2002, so it's not something you should check back for too often.
The notion of a "business" version of zMUD (scriptable, triggers, aliases, COM interface, no database, no mapper, and things like "characters" referred to as "connections" - i.e. zTelnet) has been discussed before, and Zugg's interested in it, but it's not a high priority that I'm aware of.
However, as Kjata said, zMUD only loads what it's using, and while it's a big application, it does a good job of keeping what's not in use out of memory.
