Logging onto site via Zmud

I have recently purchased the new Zmud package. When i try to log onto a mud via Zmud, a connection cannot be established. I then attempt a connection via Telnet and a successful connection is obtained. What could be causing this problem??

Sometimes I have problems using the IP addresses versus the actual "spelled-out" address. I can't figure out why it works using the IP address one day, and only works using the spelled-out format another day.
Have you tried both ways ?
