Proxy Trouble |
I am having problems connecting to wotmud.org through my proxy server at school.
It seems that all internet activity is run through port 80. While that in itself isn't a problem (just click prefs and type) the text does not show or even load up(not a font color problem) It says: "Connected to host wotmud.org" but nothing else shows up...help?

Hiya Loonie!
You can't escape me! Mwah!
The issue is the proxy server still needs to be able to connect to something on a non-standard port (2222 in this case).
It's a restriction that's put in place on purpose by most admins to prevent anything but HTML (ports 80 and 442) and FTP (ports 20 and 21) from being able to create a connection.
It's actually a little more compicated than that but the real explanation is quite boring.
The long and the short of it is if you can connect to your proxy server but not to the mud, it's a restriction at the proxy/firewall and not the client.
Sorry.
Shouldn't you be studying anyway? :P

Zmud should have socks support, so try this program:
socks2http
http://www.totalrc.net/
You have to pay for it after 15 days.
Make sure you read the program's faq after downloading it. |
