Carrion Fields + Mapper |
Just wanted to know if anyone here has played Carrion Fields mud and more specifically if they have had any luck using the mapper?
Any tips for getting the mapper to remain useful on a mud where sometimes rooms are exact copies of each other (roads etc, or even mazes) and sometimes blinded etc..?
I have very limited experience but often find it loses where I am entirely and doesn't relocate accurately. |

Duplicate names/decriptions are large not an issue.
You can confirm movement even when blinded with an #OK command.
#TR {It is too dark to see.} {#OK}
If you do get out of sync, go to a unique room to use the #FIND command. |

Here's a scenario.. I'm mapping:
I go into a new room to the EAST
I try go NORTH -> but get rejected
either by:
Alas there is no exit north.
The Warriors' Guild guard says 'Only warriors may enter the guildhall!'
You are too large to go there.
so then I go back WEST.. but my mapper moves me to the room NW of where I was (note there are only simple directions: n,s,e,w,u,d)
Hopefully you can understand what I mean.. basically the mapper thinks I'm moving even though I am not..
Also- how do I center the map more frequently/automatically? |

Make #TRIGGERs on those lines of text confirming an obstruction with a #NODIR command.
Better still, put all the messages into a variable list and only need one trigger:
#TRIGGER {{@obstructions}} {#NODIR}
Then it will recognize the errors and not update the map unless you actually moved.
#MOVE w
Will only update the 'You are here' dot on the map.
For larger corrections, you can select the room on the map, and then click on the blue pin icon from the map's button tools.
As for centering the map:
Open the Map's Config menu item.
Select Configuration Settings.
Click on the Speedwalking tab.
Check Center Map with Every Movement. |

Hey, so it is still being a little funny with me when I map areas and then use the "#find" command or button.
Even when it's a unique room (not a duplicate road or anything)..
Also @Shalimar.. Can you add me back on discord so maybe I can get this sorted before I waste more time mapping :D
