Map crashing

On going to my Mud icon or whenever mapper is opened, I get only the error message: "<filename/path>.mbd is not a valid path. Make sure that the path name is spelled correctly and that you are connected to the server on which the file resides."

Closing the window or clicking "OK" does nothing but reset to the point where the error message returns when I reclick on map or reopen my mud's icon.

I have no idea how to break out of this problem and get access again to my map files.

Sounds like your .mdb or is it .dbm is corrupted.
If you change the name of that file it should be forced to recreate it when it next loads the session.
Granted, that could mean you have to remap everything....

Provided that that method solves the issue, you might be able to repair the map file by running it through the map convert program to change it to CMUD format, and back to zMUD.

windows explorer
in the right click menu you can rename any file
i usually just append the word 'old' to the front of it

deleting the file would work as well, or just relocating it

I cannot find the file by that means. I can find the directory the file is (supposedly) in.

I'd rather just find the location in zMUD where this path is stored (to be called upon whenever map is initiated) and delete it.

If I go to another MUD, this problem doesn't occur.

I tried creating a dummy file in that location, but the operating system demanded I use Admin privileges to do this, so I backed off.

You might be able to edit it from the session menu prior to loading.
zMUD i believe still saves to the program directory instead of a subset of My Games.
Which version of windows are you on?

Its the default selection screen when starting zMUD, where you select between the different games.
You should be able to edit your game, and it might have directions for changing/deleting the map file, or at least give you a more precise path name.
Forgive me if my directions are a bit vague, I never actually downloaded zMUD on my latest machine so i am not looking at a local version and am going off memory and how CMUD works.

Those warnings are you to scare off people who don't know what they are doing when manipulating files.
So long as you have a base understanding you can feel free to ignore it within the zMUD sub/folder(s).
Just remember to make a backup copy somewhere (like a thumb drive).
You can always reinstall zMUD in a worst case scenario, though messing with the map should not cause one.

Shalimar, Zugg and/or Chiara: viatsia seems to be just cutting fragments randomly from previous posts in the topic and creating a new message. I've seen this on several topics now.
