in zmud the command: ""' is used to let the mud know you are still there and not spam the output.

What is the cmud equivalent?

I need an inert command.

is there a way to gag an output without creating a new line?

That sounds more like a game-specific command, but if it is a Zuggsoft thing, no reason for it to have changed from one product to the next.

There is no way to preemptively #GAG something, you have to make a trigger for that.

You can suppress the command echo, if that is what you mean:
Open Preferences.
Click the 'Scripting' tab on the left.
Uncheck 'echo commands'.
