Format of packages in the package library.

I was just curious if anybody knew in what form packages are uploaded to and downloaded from the package library.

Are they uploaded in their full .pkg format? Is uploading much like exporting where they're translated to .xml form?

I'm mainly curious because I'm wondering if I should delete and reimport packages before uploading.

For whatever reason, a freshly imported package is always fewer KB than on that's been in use for a while.
It will often be significantly smaller than the package from which it was just exported.

You get the full .pkg file in your Packages folder.

I suppose condensing it would be a polite thing to do, but i don't think anyone is truly worried about a few KB anymore.
It will only bloat back up on thier system, so the only thing you are saving is space on the download itself.

Thanks for the info!

I had assumed that packages were exported, based on the bug with multi-states get stripped from uploaded packages.

There must be some sanitizing process going awry instead, I suppose.
