question about the map database

I am running the new map database and I am in the process of updating the map. This involves deleting many rooms and zones and mapping them again. My question is wen I delete a room the VNUM of new rooms never changes. It seems like the database would re use the old vnums to keep the size of the map file down. Do I have a bunch of empty space on my map since the old vnums are not used?

Not empty spaces in the map, just unused entries in the database file.

If you had thousands upon thousands of them maybe.
Given the scale of recreation you are talking about, I probably would.
Just rename the old map after closing cmud and it will automagically create you a blank map the next time you open the session
