Character specific triggers? |
So I just started a new character on the MUD, and I thought "Hey, I can just copy my old session, change the name, delete the triggers I needed for my old character, and start over with this one!"
So I did the copy and rename session thing, and then went on a deleting spree... only to find that all the triggers I deleted were removed from both sessions. Thankfully I made a backup a couple of days ago, and could just replace the files.
How do I make triggers that appear for each session individually? It would be a LOT of disabling to keep swapping between the two otherwise. |

1. No, backups rewrite when you close the sessions i believe.
Unless you had reopened it before logging out.
2. Make an actual new session instead of copying an old one.
Copies will point at the same .pkg file.
You could edit the session and manually change the name of the file it wants to use. It will create it on opening if it doesn't already exist. |

Create a New Session sounds like the easier solution.
As I'm relearning zMud/cMud, I have found it quite beneficial to create a New Package from the Package Editor screen and call it "Shared.pkg" or something like that. Put any communal triggers/alias/etc in that package, so you aren't constantly copying the same stuff to new sessions. For example, your list of direction aliases/paths can be put in 1 file that both sessions can access. This way, if you need to add a new alias, you only add it to that one file instead of both character session files. |
