Map in room description

Hi,

After many many years away from mudding I have made a return. My zscript skills are as forgotten as my mudskills. I tried finding a solution to my problem in the archives but couldn't so please bare with me if it is a repeat to many of you.

Esentially every room you move into there is a description and map in one.
Example:

Code:

<---------^--------->  Loc:    Weed-covered Ruins in central Lucentium
|                   |  Exits:  north, south, northeast, northwest, southeast,
|                   |          southwest, west
|        jjj        |
|     jjjjjjjj^     |  This seems to be all that remains of an ancient
|     bjjjjjjj^     |  dwelling, which has been abandoned eons ago. Tall weeds
<     Saj^*^jjj     |  cover something that looks like a shattered temple. Off
|     ~jjjjj^^j     |  in the distance, there seems to be a lone wall
|     ~jsjj^^^j     |  standing, and moss-covered foundations of some larger
|        jss        |  building. There seems to be secluded, closed courtyard
|                   |  to the west.
|                   |
<---------v--------->

Those < ^ > can be replaced by . if its in the corners or - if its the middle (basically showing if you can walk in those directions.

Code:

.------------------->  Loc:    Rugged Highlands in southern Laenor
|                   |  Exits:  northeast
|                   |
|                   |  Bare and rugged highlands spread around you. The air up
|        ^^H        |  here is fresh, but often chilly, for wind usually blows
|      ^^^^HHH      |  with its full force on high ground. The scenery is
|      ^^^*^^H      |  absolutely magnificent and imposing. Travelling here is
|      ^^^^^^^      |  quite troublesome, because of the towering hills and
|        H^^        |  deep ravines. Some green needle like stuff is starting
|                   |  to grow on the ground here.
|                   |
|                   |
`-------------------'

I remember capturing this to a seperate window and coloring the exits (this I can do in seperate triggers so not a huge issue). But what I want is to capture the map and the text to a seperate window.

Thanks in advance[/code]

Since I realize the forums are less active then they used to be and the fact that people perhaps don't want to spend hours setting things up for people.(and I didn't see any rules against it). I would be willing to offer a small sum for anyone that can help me achieve what I am looking for (all depending on time spent).

Essentially what I am looking for is the script I have mentioned above. This is the output given in the open world which is essentially hundreds of thousands of rooms (just a guess). Whenever the small map is given in room description I want it to be captured into a separate window (i.e #win map). however when entered actual area there is no map available in the description. When that is the case I want it to switch and use the automapper (total of roughly 17000) rooms.

There are some other smaller things I'd like done as well which can be explained later (capturing and displaying data). What I want done exceeds my basic knowledge of scripting this up in cmud.

Send me a message here on the board if interested.

If there was a way to turn the ascii map off, or reposition it, you might have better luck

Unfortunately that cannot be done. Would it be possible to start the capture on The 'Loc:' part and end the capture with either -' or -> (which would be the two combinations possible at the end, perhaps add more -- so it would not fire on anything else) ??

But perhaps as you are insinuating I am out of luck :) Wink
