Hi Folks,

I've been trying to test out CMud for a 30 day trial period to identify whether or not it's the product for me. (I have fond memories of zMud from way back when, and would likely purchase the product outright only I've been hitting snags while I've been trying the program out).

So for Basic specs:
Windows Vista Home Premium as an operating system.
Processor is Intel Core2 Quad @ 2.40GHz
4 GB of RAM

Ultimately, I'm sure more power than is needed to run a mud App (despite how fancy it gets).

Here is the main problem:

There is lag (regardless of session or even connectivity) between the time I press a keystroke and the key appears in the application. Worse the application freezes during the lag time so that no other action is available.

I would estimate that on average the length of time between keystroke and application recognition of said keystroke is about 30 seconds.

This has been boggling me, and I'm hoping you've had similar problems so that you can point me in the right direction.

Things I have done so far:
1) Added cmud to the exception list on Bit Defender
2) Tried running as administrator
3) Tried install of complete program outside the c:/program files/
4) Uninstalled/Reinstalled the program multiple times, along with attempting CMudPro

Anyway any help would be appreciated as I would like to use CMud for it's various features.

Are you talking about the time for your command to go from Cmud to the mud server and back again? Or the time from when you hit <ENTER> to the time Cmud prints the command on the screen (if you have that session option turned on)?

Do you have any scripts running in your session? A broken script (or a poorly written one) could easily cause that. If you have any scripts, this is the most likely cause.

You probably shouldn't install the program outside of C:/Program Files/. Vista really wants it there. Your local files (i.e. your sessions and associated files) belong in your home folder, but not the program. But that shouldn't affect anything like this.

Neither. I'm talking about the time it takes for the application itself to register that a keystroke has been made.

Oddly I noted it takes no time to register key strokes when I'm in the options, just when I'm in the main text box of a session window (even if it's not online or connected to any server).

There are no scripts yet, there are no aliases, there are no triggers. This is a fresh install.

I hope that helps. If I have to I'll take a few screenshots.

Hasn't bit defender caused issues in the past?
Does the issue go away if you turn it off for a moment?

I've turned off every section of the security it provides, one-by-one and tested CMud with no luck. I also have Cmud on the exception lists where applicable. The only other recourse I can think of would be to uninstall Bit Defender then retest.

Has this been a source of problem in past instances? I'd like to have some confirmation before I uninstall it.

Do you happen to use Kaspersky? I noticed that when I pu it on hold, problem disappeared. EXCEPTIONS ARE NOT ENOUGH! Kaspersky must be disabled to use CMud without delay.
