DDE and zMUD

I recently had to setup a new main HD because of a failing one. When I reinstalled zMUD and mIRC, the scripts I had that crossed the two with DDE stopped working. zMUD sends the info to mIRC fine. I have mIRC setup to echo whatever is sent. However, when mIRC send info to zMUD, it ends up being garbled somehow. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out which program is the culprit.

I send an easy command like /dde -e ZMUD ZMUD #echo test and zMUD receives ????????? which it sends to the server as an invalid command.

Is there anyway to debug what zMUD is receiving and/or try to figure out if it's an issue with zMUD interpreting what is sent or mIRC garbling what is sent before it sends it?

Both zMUD and mIRC are running the same version as before when the scripts worked. Both programs are also using the same exact scripts as before.

Any help would be appreciated.
