Map centering while NOT speedwalking |
I find it odd that there seems to be no option to center the map when walking normally - that is, not speedwalking, but manually entering directions. When the current room is at the edge of the map window, and you can't see the map beyond, it's tedious to:
A) drag the map with the mouse. You need to move your hand from the keyboard, and don't forget to click your input window afterward!
B) Divine what lies beyond the edge of the mapper by "look [direction]", when you could probably easily recall what's there if you could see the visual information the map provides
Of course, if you know your map so well that you already recall what lies beyond the map window, you're set. But then the map's principal function is to help those who haven't memorized their MUDs' maps.
So am I missing an obscure setting somewhere, or is this lack of a feature an oversight? Or perhaps there is a good reason for its absence that I'm overlooking. |

In the mapper window, click Config -> Configuration Settings -> Speedwalking. Then make sure center map after every movement is checked. The map should center after every movement be it with the num pad single directions or speedwalks.

Aha. Well, that's really misleading. Surely that checkbox belongs in "Interface" and not "Speedwalking."
