[3.33] crashes when closing packages

1. Upgraded to 3.33.
2. Started a new session.
3. Viewed a package from a different MUD.
4. Copied over package files.
5. Closed package from #3.
6. CMUD crashes with the above error.

This has happened 2x.

:(

It's very odd that your error message doesn't have the normal "Send bug", "Save bug" etc. That makes it look more like a Windows issue. But please email me your package files to sales@zuggsoft.com with the *exact* step-by-step instructions for reproducing this.

You should also *always* mention what version of Windows you are using.

I'm not seeing any problems like this with my packages, so I'm not sure what the issue is, but my guess is that somehow your procedure for "Copied over package files" is messed up. You shouldn't need to copy any files when upgrading.

oh, and you didn't tell us what version you upgraded from.

Windows Home Premium (64x)
Upgraded from 3.32

I had similar issues with 3.32 when closing out packages, but those errors gave me the Send/Save option. This 3.33 "no send" error was a new to me too. I had gotten used to the "regular" errors.

I still need the exact step-by-step procedure that you used to get this error to reproduce it, otherwise I'm not going to be able to fix it before the "a" patch later today, which will be the last update to CMUD for a couple of months. I'm not sure exactly how you are "closing out packages".

If you were getting errors before, then it sounds like something is wrong with your session files. You should try resetting each session layout by selecting a session icon, then holding down the SHIFT key and clicking the Open Offline action. This will create a fresh layout for each session.

Happened again.

1. Logged into 6Dragons.
2. Opened Package Editor.
3. Selected File > View Package.
4. Selected "LegendsoftheJedi.pkg" and clicked Open.
5. Highlighted some scripts to copy from LotJ.
6. Pasted the scripts into 6Dragons.
7. Right clicked LotJ tab and selected "Delete Tab." (last time error occurred I had clicked the X in the upper right to close)
8. Get message stating cannot close package while session is loaded.
9. Access violation occurred.

I am aware that the above steps are wrong to close a package. I also get an intermittent CMUD error when I first close the session window and then close the package editor. I captured the error file last time this happened.

error details:
Connected to new MUD session. Opened package and copied over scripts. Attempted to close window that opened for package and got this error.

I can close and reopen CMUD, and it will work fine unless I try to copy scripts from one package to another. Maybe I'm doing something wrong that crashes CMUD. I'll read the docs to make sure I share global scripts the correct way.

In fact, I just repeated the above process but I closed the session window first and then the package. Got no error this time.

For what it's worth, I thought this started with 3.33, but it was 3.32. The auto-updater showed it was downloading 3.33, but it never installed. I had to manually download and install 3.33.

I hope this info helps. I love CMUD and just want to share the info.
