Is this a different character on the same mud or different character on a different mud.

I had a similar issue on my mud which has now allowed players to have multiple characters. It took me awhile to work out what was going on.

What you can try and do is create a new profile folder and redirect the zmud files each profile is using. Right click the profiles to get to the settings and make sure the .mud and .lay files are unique.

There may well be a bug where by if two profiles are using the same .lay file zmud mis-saves the triggers and aliases in the wrong .mud file. Why I have no idea, but it might be somethign to look for.

I have 12 characters, all on the same mud.

I'm using 2 different folders because my mud allows 8 characters per screen name,
and I have 2 screen names,so i have one folder for each screen name.

I think all files are set up right...

zmud>mymud>screen name-1>character-1.mud
..................... >screen name-2>character-9.mud

there are no .lay files in the character folders, just in the main zmud folder,
and "use layout" is unchecked on both characters.

not real sure what they .lay files do...? do I need .lay files at all?
and if so, should they be in the zmud folder, or the character folder, and should
each .lay file have a name unique to the screen name, or each character?
Thanks again for any help.

In short I don't really know what they do in full either and even if the "Use Layout" is unticked I found triggers and aliases were being put in the wrong .mud file.

To be more specific-

With out the unique .lay file Zmud would alway load the settings for the first profile I accessed in a session regardless of which characters I tried after it even though they all had seperate .muds.

I only noticed because the name which gets shown in the primary output window never changed. It was by trial and error and a little searching on here I discovered the .lay file issue.
