Error while trying to open CMUD |
I just had to reinstall windows on my laptop. I am running windows vista home premium 32 bit. after running all the updates i had installed zmud which i have full liscense for and it started giving me an error message saying error while unpacking program code 2. please report to author. so i thought maybe it was because zmud does not support vista. so i went and downloaded the 30 day trial version of CMUD. after installing i chose the option to just run CMUD when it started to open i got the same error message again. Error while unpacking program code 2. please report to author. I need to know what to do to fix this because i absolutly can not stand using telnet for my muds. please help. Oh and i have already tried to uninstall redownload and reinstall and still get same message.

You are correct that Zmud will not work on Vista.
When installing Cmud on a Vista machine, it is important to not install the session information in the Programs folder, because that is protected. If you started installing Zmud, it probably made session folders there, and when you installed Cmud, it may have tried to put them in the same place. When it asks you where to put the folders, choose the option for %DOCUMENTS%. |

Do you get the error before or after the CMUD splash screen? If you get it before, then something on your computer is interfering with the CMUD copy protection and preventing it from starting up. Make sure your virus checker software is up to date. I've seen this problem happen with some network security software, but that was many years ago. But you might look at what else is running on your system and disable it to see if that helps.
Also make sure you are installing and running CMUD the first time using the Admin account on your computer. You can also try right-clicking on the CMUD.EXE file and selecting "Run as Admin" to see if that helps. |

i will uninstall cmud and then search see if there is anything hanging around from zmud or cmud. then reinstall and see what happens then. as to zmud not working on vista that is not true cuz untell i had to reinstall due to a virus i was using my zmud all the time. just now i updated to vista service pack 2 now niether will run. also zugg i already have it set to run as admin cuz vista is gay like that and dont let you run anything unless it is set as admin. i swear i hate microsoft

I've never used bit-defender but I'm guessing it doesn't like CMUDs Armadillo based security of decrypting and executing in memory. I imagine you rectify this by simply adding an application exception for CMUD.
