Midkemia Problems (ATCP and MXP Map Info) |
Firstly, I decided to try yet another mud.
However, when I enable ATCP I am only receiving the Char.Vitals and NONE of the room information.
When I enable MXP via Midkemia I get this:
Code: |
<RNum 550><RName>A grand entrance hall.</RName>
<RDesc>White marble shines and gleams to show the care that has gone into the hallway. The first part of the palace that most see, it has been designed to impress and intimidate, the size of everything that little bit bigger then normal. Alcoves in the walls are home to statues and busts of previous leaders, each of them carved with a slightly stern expression. Gilded lanterns flicker a warming light into the room when the sun outside sets and high windows filter the natural sunlight into the room in a golden beam, the motes of dust dancing and glittering as they drift around the passing servants, squires and visitors to the palace.</RDesc> A pile of stone and wood rubble sits on the floor here.
<EXPIRE "exits"><RExits>You see exits leading <SEND HREF="west" EXPIRE="exits">west</SEND> (open door), <SEND HREF="south" EXPIRE="exits">south</SEND>, <SEND HREF="east" EXPIRE="exits">east</SEND>, <SEND HREF="northeast" EXPIRE="exits">northeast</SEND>, <SEND HREF="north" EXPIRE="exits">north</SEND> (open door), and <SEND HREF="down" EXPIRE="exits">a hole in the ground leads down</SEND>.<RExits>

I'm not sure why Cmud isn't handling this correctly. I checked MXP options and these elements all exist under the MUD tab, but this is how it displays on the screen. I've never used MXP like this before so I am not sure what is going on here? I can't get it to work with the mapper correctly or anything. I can't even get ATCP or GMCP to work with this MUD. The only thing I can get to work so far is Char.Vitals. |

Can someone please explain how I use this info and get rid of all those tags on the screen? I'm not getting any of the ATCP room data at all so I have no idea how I can get this data other than using MXP but when I turn it on this is what shows on the screen and that's not going to work either. I need some way to get the room number and so on. The mapper goes off the key and that is not the same. I'd like my map to actually match what the room number really is.

Do you have MXP enabled in cmud? If not, it should be. If that's not it, check if show unknown mxp tags is enabled. If it is, any mxp tags that cmud doesn't recognize will be echoed to the screen.

Enable MXP/HTML is checked. Show unknown tags is NOT checked.

I know in Achaea you don't get the room description separately like that in ATCP or GMCP. That's actually really nice since it is separating the roomdesc in the MXP. However, I also cannot get any ATCP data for the room at all in Midkemia and I can in Achaea. When I check #DEBUG, I see nothing but Char.Vitals coming through. If they are only using MXP fine, but I can't walk around looking at all those tags and they are NOT working with the mapper correctly. For instance, that room above is RNum 550, but Cmud mapped that with VNum 191 and doesn't map any of the room descriptions. I'd like to really get the mapper in sync with the Mud and get it to record everything. Usually in the ATCP data you can get the type of environment of the room, and I would color the room based upon that and so on.

I'm not sure why it would be echoing those MXP tags. You might try turning on the "Force Remote MXP" in case there is something wrong with the initial MXP option negotiation.
As far as the ATCP stuff, you might check with IRE directly to see if Midkemia is sending room into via ATCP or not. With the move to GMCP it's possible they are not focused on ATCP for their newest MUD. |
