v3.22 CoffeeMUD Mapping Errors |
I was trying out the new mapping features and got totally stumped on a CoffeeMUD based project I am working on. When I ran the Auto Configuration Utility, it would map out the room perfectly, for exactly one room. After that it wouldn't draw/update subsequent rooms at all. I tried using keyboard/compass/numpad directional commands, and none worked.
This is an example of a rooms MXP output:
Code: |
<RName>North End of the Hamlet</RName>
<RDesc>A small shed is here, little more than a lean-to. But it is here that the
trade of this little Hamlet thrives, heralded by the sharp ring of the
smith's hammer as he plies his trade.
<RItem "a puddle of water">A puddle of water has formed here. </RItem>
Obvious exits:
<EX>Southeast</EX>: Small Hamlet
<EX>East </EX>: North End of a Hamlet
<EX>South</EX>: A Small Hamlet |
Any help here would be appreciated. I don't think the bug is actually in CMud, but I'm not really sure. |

Assuming you copied that directly from the mud output I see a few problems.
1. The <RDesc> tag is never closed.
2. Just before "</RItem>", there is no closing bracket for the RItem.
You should talk to the admins of the mud about these mistakes in thier MXP implementation. |

I saw that too but I am not at all familiar with MXP so I thought I would check to be certain. But, out of curiosity, if it doesn't work for the automapper AFTER the configuration, why does it work for it DURING the configuration?

When you are reconfiguring, the colored text displayed is what the mapper _thinks_ are the right parts. From this, it is probably assuming that it can use the MXP codes to assign parts to the map. So it makes the configuration to use MXP (since CMud knows what MXP is supposed to look like), but the MXP from the mud is actually wrong.

Makes sense. I already contacted the guy the wrote CoffeeMUD and he has put it on his bug fix list.
