3.22 %sort on database records

in 3.21 when you used %sort on a database variable it sort it and still would return a database variable, but now in 3.22 returns a string list
can you add a %sortdb to sort by key ?
this showed up when code I had using #loopdb over %sort($databasevariable) and echoed %key : %val text started outputting the key/value pair for %key |
