[CmudPro 2.37] SSH Issues |
I'm having an issue with CMUD Pro not accepting some sequences of characters that I input. For example: I use vim on my box to edit files, with Vim, you use the insert key to start typing, which does work after I hit insert and then hit enter. The issue I am also having, is to get out of insert mode, you have to press escape. When I press escape and hit enter or anything, it stays in insert mode. Also, you have to press Shift + ZZ to save and exit the program, which pretty much works but is still a little iffy like the insert key.
I have looked around for documentation, but is there any way to make Cmud Pro accept the escape sequence key and insert key and such in a more efficient way or at all? |

Are you using Character Mode? Go into your Preferences and in the Sessions page, make sure Character mode is clicked. Then you can click on the main output window and any character you press will be sent to the MUD immediately.
I have been using SSH in CMUD a lot over the past view days while doing this server move and have been using the "vi" editor a lot, and haven't run into any problems with characters not getting sent to the MUD. So I cannot reproduce the problem here.
It's possible that it is a Vim issue, but I'd need a procedure that works on a normal linux box to try and reproduce this problem. I've never used Vim here.
With keys like the Insert key on the keyboard, you should also make sure your shell session has the correct terminal type set. It should be recognizing CMUDPro as a vt100 terminal type. Make sure it is set to that, and not something like xterm. The ANSI standard for sending special characters like Insert, Home, End, etc isn't very well defined and it's possible they are assuming xterm emulation instead of actually using the proper terminal type setting. |

I didn't have Character Mode and didn't know about it, thank you.

I had this exact same problem, which was solved by changing the settings as recommended above. I would like to recommend that Zugg Software consider adding "Character Mode" to be On by default for new SSH connections.
I bought CMUD Pro because I find myself using SSH to use VIM every day, and I've always loved mudding with Zmud, specially because of its interface and capabilities. I have to say, I really am liking it so far. I'm glad I bought it. |

Character Mode is the default setting in the TeSSH client, which is meant for more sysadmin users. I have no plans to change the default in CMUD Pro because CMUD Pro is still focused more on MUD playing.
