[Request] #PING command |
I was just wondering if it was possible for cmud to get a simple #PING command.
the idea being you could without needing to use another program ping the server and possibly create a latency monitor with scripts? |

Why not just create your own? The actual latency in game between the client and server will be higher than an ICMP ping time anyway.

I have no plans for a #PING command at this time. When this was discussed about 10 years ago with zMUD, the MUDs were very concerned with the type of scripts that players would create with a command line this (keeping an idle connection open, constantly pinging a MUD that is restarting, etc). As OldGuy2 mentioned, it's better to create a real latency script yourself using allowed MUD commands in your game. Also, some routers these days have disabled ICMP so it isn't as reliable for doing latency testing as it once was.
