Is it possible that my mud doesn't have a prompt?
 
here is text from my mud as i path through some rooms:

The green east of the Cathedral (north, south, west, east and up)
Orbit arrives.
Greenarrow arrives.
Bones arrives.
> Highgate between the Laughing Swede and the Deity Booth (north, south, west and east)
Orbit arrives.
Greenarrow arrives.
Bones arrives.
> Highgate south of MacTavish's (north, west and east)
Orbit arrives.
Greenarrow arrives.
Bones arrives.
> Highgate (north, south, west and east)
A wooden replica of the owl helm.
Orbit arrives.
Greenarrow arrives.
Bones arrives.
> Highgate just west of the Porta Aurea (west, east and south)
A Muck Monster.
Orbit arrives.
Greenarrow arrives.
Bones arrives.
> The Porta Aurea of Farcaern (north, south, west, east, northeast and southeast)
Orbit arrives.
Greenarrow arrives.
Bones arrives.
> Passing through the Porta Aurea (east and west)
A common street thug.
Orbit arrives.
Greenarrow arrives.
Bones arrives.

can someone explain the prompt thing to me?

help prompt? most muds have the option of turning your prompt on.... maybe "prompt on" like my mud....

or you might be ablke to do something like this,
This seems to be your standard prompt there

The prompt is the line that your inputted script/commandline commands get appended to after you send them to the game. According to the snipped you gave, it looks like yours is (the underscore represents where the cursor would be):

In most cases, there are numbers and other useful information in the prompt, but some games go with simple ones like yours. These games generally have some sort of PROMPT/BPROMPT command that lets you customize them, but if yours doesn't have such a command you can always make a trigger that does the same thing.

i have noticed some mushs moos lps ect dont generally have a prompt ... nor do they have an option from promts :(
