this should be stickied.

I've seen same problem in a couple places on this forum, I opened a ticket with zugg and he couldnt directly help me with the problem, just narrowed a few things down. I thought I had tried everything myself to fix the problem, uninstalled, cleaned registry, system restored before the crashes, etc. was running as admin with UAC off.

but I never thought to disable my DEP!
This information should be at the top of the CMUD forums, because thats the first place I came to look for help and im sure many others have too.

this will help with anyone who has the crash when trying to reinstall right at:
Cmud.exe /regserv

zugg, if anyone else opens a ticket for support for crash, tell them to disable their DEP, I tried absolutely everything aside from reinstalling windows, except that, and nothing, but the DEP fixed it perfectly.

If you look at the top of the CMUD Support section of this web site (select Support menu at the top, then CMUD), you will see an article called Troubleshooting. In the list of Vista Issues, the very first paragraph talks about DEP issues.

Sorry I didn't think to mention DEP to you via the support ticket help. I usually point people to the Troubleshooting topic in the Help, but I'll try to remember to mention DEP to people also.
