Crash Problem 3.08 BETA |
I would report this with the built in bug/crash reporter but I can't get it to stay up long enough to do so. I just got CMud going after having used Zmud for the last 10 years and have not had this problem before. CMud seemed to work fine all of last night with no issues that I could detect. This morning when I start it up I get an Access Error Violation with a Hexcode (tried to read from 0x000000000) program terminated. It seems almost like a timing thing, because if I connect to a MUD it does this after about 10 seconds or if I just let it sit there after starting for about 10 seconds it does it. The CMud application also seems to be taking a long time to load after this has started. I searched the forums and found some things for UAC and DEP, but none of those are turned on where it would matter.
Sorry, I am running Windows Vista x64 SP2 if that helps any.
Any ideas what the problem might be? |

I've never heard of anything like this before. Have you tried rebooting Windows? Does it crash even if you don't select any session and just let it sit at the session selection screen?

A reboot actually did fix the problem. The weird thing is I have a friend with Vista x64 and he is having the same issue at times.

That's Vista. Vista has a couple of notorious problems. The one that really effects CMUD is that Vista sometimes doesn't unload older DLL libraries cleanly. This effects the SQLITE.DLL file used in CMUD. The new 3.09 version starts converting your files to SQLite v3.3 format so that you eventually won't need the old SQLITE.DLL (v2) library that usually causes this problem on Vista.
But my Vista machine here requires a lot more regular rebooting than my older XP system (which I hardly ever need to reboot). And that's not just with CMUD but with a lot of other applications. |
