[3.06] Map keeps resetting itself to default theme on program load/re-load |
The map keeps resetting itself to default theme with the gradient background on program load/re-load, as you can see here the rest of CMUD is still set to Flat, it remembers that, but for the mapper it seems to lose it (Flat usually has just a plain blue/whatever colour you pick in options background, and it comes back if you change the Theme to something else than back to Flat again) - you can also see in the connection window another one of those MCCP bugs :/ :
edit: SORRY this is 3.06, not 3.07, I should have checked properly first sorry, I just assumed I had the latest version because it was a fresh install - I think it's likely I'll have the same problems since it doesn't say fixed in the version history, if it does fix it I'll post back here in an hour or so if not it's still broken ( :( ) |

The Theme selection is stored in the CMUD.INI file. What directory do you have CMUD installed in and what version of Windows are you using? You can check the CMUD.INI file to see if the modification date is getting updated properly. It should be getting saved whenever you exit CMUD. I'm not having any problems saving a different theme here.

C:\Programs (x86)\CMUD
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit (classic theme): screenshot
I looked in cmud.ini and it doesn't seem to have a separate theme option for the Map? it says ThemeIndex=2 under the main settings tho which I'm guessing is the right one (Flat)
Just in case here's whole thing:

From the other post, it's because you have Vista set to "classic" mode. That disables the theming in Windows and will mess up CMUD. Try setting Vista to XP or Aero and see if this problem persists.
Also, when you install CMUD, it asks you for two installation directories. The first is for the application files, which defaults to your "Program Files" area. The second question asks for the Data Files location and you should make sure to select a directory that Windows allows full read/write access to.
Do NOT select the Program Files directory for the Data Files. You should usually use the default %DOCUMENTS% directory, which will put the data files in "My Documents\My Games\CMUD". If you are storing your Data Files in the Program Files area, then Windows will not let CMUD write to that directory normally and it will not be able to save any of your INI files, or other settings files. And that will cause all sorts of problems. |

ok, tried with the default one (there is no xp option, only "Windows Vista Basic" as per the screenshot in last post i edited in)
before close, setting to Flat:
after re-opening program, gradient mode comes back, but with aero themes on it hasn't changed the colour this time:
not that bothered by that (actually looks more readable), but thought I should report it cos i don't think threre's supposed to be two hidden "sub-themes", maybe giving an option in the mapper options Appearance -> Colors tab where you can set the background colour, colour of room boxes etc to have gradient background or not could be good
however I really don't want to switch to the default theme for the reasons I mentioned here :(

I didn't actually though it looks similar, it's "Programs (x86)" which is a folder I made myself it's not one of the ones included with windows (like "Program files (x86)" (I use it so that I know what I have manually installed and what setup installers put on my PC, it's easier to check)
(I also have a plain "Programs" folder for 64-bit stuff)

Does this still apply, cos I'm happy to wipe my profiles and reinstall CMUD if needed since I haven't really made much of my own modifications beyond importing my old map (to try make it easier to get the bugs reported) |

If the "Programs (x86)" is a folder that you created yourself, then there shouldn't be any problem with the permissions. But as I said, you can always simply look at the modification date of the files to see if they are being saved properly.
On the mapper gradient, have you tried setting the mapper background color in the map appearance page? If you set the mapper background to a solid color, that should get rid of the gradient. |
