[3.08] Map tracking bug |
Found an apparent bug in tracking:
Open the untitled session
Open the mapper
Create two rooms and a link between them, north-south
Set your location to the southern room
Load the English Directions package
Set Walk Mode to Safe
On the command line, type the commands 'n', then 's'
Mapper tracks fine (the rooms have no names, so it tracks immediately even in Safe mode)
On the command line, type 'n;s'
Mapper tracks to the north room, shows that the next direction is south, but does not track to the south room!
On the command line, type '#ok
**Mapper still does not move to the south room!
On the command line, type '#move s' to force the mapper to move; this works fine and clears the queue
Now, use the Room Properties window to assign a room name to each room, say Room 1 and Room 2
Now the mapper shouldn't track until it gets #ok, manually or triggered from the room name
On the command line, type the commands 'n', '#ok', 's', '#ok'
Mapper tracks fine
On the command line, type 'n'
On the command line, type 's'
**Notice that the mapper now lists 's' on the direction queue!
On the command line, type '#ok'
The mapper correctly moves the location north, and still lists 's' on the queue
On the command line, type '#ok'
**The mapper does not move the location south, and still lists 's' on the queue
At this point, the mapper will not correctly update the map position until the queue is manually cleared and the correct location set |

Using "Safe" mode requires a map configuration and requires you to be online with a MUD. Just because the rooms don't have names doesn't mean that Safe mode is automatically going to work. Also, when offline the mapper works a bit differently than normal, mostly so I can do some testing of it when offline.
If you can reproduce any problem with Safe mode when online and with the mapper configured, then let me know.
If you want to test stuff offline, you need to use a normal MUD session that has the mapper properly configured. Go online, configure the mapper so that it is working. Then you can use this session offline and CMUD will echo the room name/description as you move to allow Safe mode to work.
But it is not made to work with blank room names like you are doing. |

Okay, I'll work on reproducing it with my regular maps. The reason I tried it with the untitled session is because I've been seeing similar situations online while playing. I'll try to get some reproducible results.
