I have a question about the upgrade to beta cmud 3.0x.

If I upgrade to the beta, before my 2 year anniversary date. (coming up in August).

Will I then be locked in for all future updates to the 3.0x line?

How does this work in respect to lines that only exist in beta format, and not public release format?

The 2 year upgrades thing only applies to versions that're marked as "major". After two years from the date you purchased CMUD, you'll be unable to upgrade past the next "major" version.

No CMUD versions have been marked as "major" yet, and no plans have been released setting out which versions will be "major" and which won't. But if the next 3.0x public version is a major version, and it's released after your 2 years of upgrades expires, then yes, you'll have to pay for it.
