[3.07] Alignment of buttons

1. Start cMUD.
2. Hit Escape to close the MUD sessions window.
3. Click "Buttons" button on the main cMUD toolbar.
4. Create a new button and name it "Test".
5. Click Save.
6. Click Options tab.
7. Set Toolbar to 1.
8. Click Save.
9. Now check "Align right".
10. Click Save.
11. Notice how the button now fills up the right part of the MUD Window. Is this really correct behaviour? Unchecking "Align right" does not return the button to its original position.
12. Also try this with Toolbar set to 0. Then the button gets stuck in the bottom of the MUD Window.

I don't think so. The button actually fills up the entire part of the right side of the MUD output window as if it had been docked there. For example like the mapper.

However if you edit the caption after step 10, and then click save the button appears on the toolbar like it should.

Hmm.. thats auu wierd?
toolbar 1 should be the top, toolbar 4 should be right side.

I just played with it some more and it basically jumped from a... toolbar4 sized/shaped button to a button on toolbar 1 in right hand corner.

So yeah, different from that previous post

This is actually related to the reported problem where changing the ToolBar field doesn't work properly. After step 7 and 8 where the toolbar has been changed, change the caption of the button and hit save to ensure that the button is properly placed on the correct toolbar. Then you can change the Align right field.

What Wyrm posted is also correct however: Only buttons on toolbars can use "Align Right". Floating buttons are handled differently. Also, you must ensure that the Auto Position option is selected for Align Right to work. And yes, using Align Right will cause the button to fill up the right side of whatever toolbar it is on. For example, if your toolbar has multiple rows of buttons, then buttons set to Align Right will fill the entire vertical space of the toolbar.

I might try to improve this in a future version so that the Align Right option actually uses the negative Left values instead to properly align the button. I just need to implement the negative Left and Top values when docked to a toolbar and then remove the Align Right option checkbox and change it something else for setting the different button alignments (top, bottom, left, right) via the Left/Top properties.
