Minimum Processor Requirements?

I'm on a mac running virtual pc, and I'm limited to 686 emulation at 512MHz, with 512MB ram. Is there a minimum processor requirement to run ZMUD (or even CMUD for that matter)

I've tried 3 fresh installations of XP (patched up with all the latest system updates) and when ZMUD (and CMUD) launches, nothing happens. It looks like it will open, but no error dialogue box pops up. Just nothing happens. This is w/o any additional software running, just the basic installation of XP, patched to the hilt.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong. Anybody else out there with VPC on a mac that can run it?

and no, I don't have an Intel mac, I have a G5 at work with a PPC processor :( I'm stuck with VPC 7

thoughts?

If it makes any sense to anyone, zmud versions 5 and below work fine. They just are not the latest update of ZMUD which is what I need.

They are no processor requirements. If you you're using VPC I'm guessing that you are running into some sort emulation issue. What OS are you emulating?

I'm running XP Pro SP3, with all the current updates. I've also tried SP2 straight from the CD.

Try Crossover Pro if you can. zMUD works fine under all instances of it that I have tried.

My mac is not Intel based, it's PPC, so I can't run Parallels, wine, etc. VPC is the only way.

Incorrect. VPC is NOT the only way. There are MANY virtual machines that will run on Macintosh hardware. Including the PPC version of VMWare, AND Crossover Mac.

You must be mistaken. Both VMWare & Crossover clearly state on their respective websites that there is NO software available for a computer that has a PowerPC chip, such as a G5.

If you can prove me wrong I welcome you to do so.

and bump...still not able to figure this out...

Axiom, I HAVE a version of VMWare that I used to have installed on a PPC machine. However, you are correct RE: Crossover. Sorry about that. If I can find the disc with that VM Ware on it, I'll let ya know and perhaps we can work something out. I've something like 400 old discs in my storage though, and this isn't really a priority.
