Problem with Uninstall? |
I'm running Windows XP Pro. I have been meaning to post this for awhile.
When I uninstalled Cmud and installed the Beta, the recently opened programs list now shows the shortcut to "Unlicense Cmud" instead of "Cmud" where I had Cmud open before. I've almost clicked that a couple times during uninstall and installs because I see the Cmud logo and go to click. I would hate to end up unlicensing Cmud.
I just noticed too that when I got to Start/All Programs and click Cmud the Unlicense Cmud is the first one in the list and I almost clicked it again! |

So... move or delete the unlicense shortcut? I don't see how Zugg can possibly do anything about this, although if it makes you feel better accidentally selecting unlicense is not a big deal, it simply means you will need to use the automatic request key form and copy/paste the new license key back into CMud.

Why wouldn't he? I've never had ANY other program do that.

That most definitely is just related to your computer. Unlicense shows if I go ti Start all Programs, CMUD, but it shows above Unlicense CMUD Pro. Also as for your logo comment, the unlicense does not, I repeat does not, have the cmud logo, it has a logo that looks like a trash can.

No it doesn't. That's Uninstall with the trashcan. Unlicense has the SAME EXACT logo as the shortcut to the .EXE.

It looks like Zugg could set the icon index number for the shortcut during install. He would have to make some icon for it.
Zugg has no control over the order in which icons are displayed, unless he does some major registry hacking. File creation order should normally result in the shortcuts being in the same order everytime, but the exact sort information Windows keeps around can mess that up. It really is a Windows problem that it doesn't remove the related entries in the registry when the folder is removed. |

The icon is the same as CMUD because if you look at the shortcut command, you will see that the Unlicense option is calling CMUD.EXE with the /unlicense option. Windows displays whatever icon is associated with the CMUD.EXE file. Yes, there is probably a way to create a new icon resource and tell windows to use a different icon index for the shortcut, but that's pretty low on my priority list.
Vijilante is correct about Windows controlling the order of entries in the startup folder. When you uninstall CMUD, Windows deletes entries, and then when you install a different version, it creates new entries. Windows controls the order of the entries. However, there should be an option in Windows to change your view order to alphabetical. At least on Vista it always seems to display start menu items alphabetically, so maybe you just have that option turned off.
And yes, ultimately the best way to deal with this if it annoys you is to just remove that shortcut from your startup menu. |

Pin the CMUD shortcut to the Start menu and you will never have a reason to call CMUD from the Programs menu.

Turns out it wasn't too hard to add an icon for the Unlicense shortcut, so this is done for the next version. The unlicense option will just be the CMUD icon with a big red X through it (because that was easy to make).
